What ruling says you can't cast it with mutate from the command zone?

Oh sweet! I noticed this in one of my decks already with Zilortha suddenly becoming Godzilla! Awesome!

Commander Deck Reviews / Grixis - Evil for a Nicol (Budget Commander)

Grixis - Evil for a Nicol

The goal was set up a deck that discards the opponent's cards and reduces their hand while controlling their creatures, all for a budget of $50 or less on the TCGPlayer prices. Opinions?

General Magic / Re: Bank of America report on Hasbro

Agreed. As far as I can tell, other than the hype it drums up, and I could be wrong, I don't understand how wizards of the coast directly benefits from the secondary market for cards anyway. I mean granted. I've known what magic is for years before I started playing it just because of stuff like the black lotus and stuff like that. I just hope it's not on the way out after I just got into it. I wonder if we'll have a couple rocky years, but maybe it'll smooth out in a bit. That's what I hope anyway. But given what they're doing with my other favorite property, I'm just watching wizards pretty closely right now to figure it out. On the plus side, if they ruin magic, or kill it all together somehow, I'll always have the cards I have to play with friends and I'll always have my old D&D stuff on the other side of things

I wanna point out this "deep dive" report also seems to just not be a deep dive, either. Yeah, some of this sucks like the perpetual release cycle, it exhausts people, and there is a lot to be concerned about! but...

1) Only a sample size of 8 cards with a relatively short analysis of the price, including overall card values, while in reality the same figures they're citing affect other TCG's as well
2) Only example of shrinking retail footprint was some kinda retail store, possibly two stores, which have been shrinking TCG footprints for years.
3) The report treats MtG as *almost* solely a financial investment akin to stocks, and ignores that many players, especially less vocally online ones, filthy casuals like me who just want shiny cards and fun at the table with friends

And there's a few other issues I have with the report. I have concerns with how Magic is being handled, but I also think a lot of people assume because *THEY* don't like something (Universes Beyond is my favorite example of this), and because their FRIENDS are making noise about it, it's a failure. I see UB getting new people into Magic all the time, hell, it got me into it. And it sells well.

General Magic / Re: What was your worst misplay?

I didn't notice an infinite mana combo that'd let me sac, recover, sac, recover, Noxious Gearhulk and clear the field while recovering life.

RIP.

Then later, Demonic Tutor'd a Meteor Golem instead of Nim's Deathmantle, the only piece I was missing for another infinite combo.

Both using my modified Necron Dynasties deck. Only been playing a month and a half so haven't really had a chance to make HUGE mistakes yet.

Had a game a few weeks ago. Stock decks, no modifications.

friendly game w/ a close friend.
Mind Flayarrrs vs Necron Dynasties.

I was down to 8 life against her 30ish. Almost out of cards, out of options.

Pull out that card (forget its name) that mills 14 cars. Pull back my Nemesis of Reality, mill 10 more... By the time I finished my turn, she'd milled 42 cards and had 2 in deck. Sadly, I had no way to mill the last 2 before passing my turn and got absolutely crushed as soon as it was her go.

I lost but it was absolutely fun to do it.

Deckstats Feedback / Re: Collection Manager Loading Error

The problem has become intermittent. So I guess I should just be a little more patient and refresh it until it works? idk what caused it to start or stop, and saving still isn't working.

I have no idea, tbh. I just got

"Failed to save collection: HTTP connection error: 524. Please try again in a few minutes." when I tried to save.

Deckstats Feedback / Collection Manager Loading Error
« on: October 30, 2022, 07:04:29 pm »
The collection page advised I post this error message here. It's long as heck so I'm attaching it as a .txt

Basically, I try to "manage" my collection, it loads for an amount of time, then times out. I can add cards and view it via the deck builder, but I cannot manage it.
