if you really want a lifegain deck, you should think about sanguine bond, vampire nighthawk and nip gwyllion. Serra ascendant is also fun in these kinds of decks. Reviving dose would be useful for drawing cards into your ever dwindling hand and vicious hunger for killing of creatures early.

Be careful though, you should try to get some cheap lands that give both white and black mana, as some require double of the same colour.

A Pirate Wizard? =O That can only be topped by... A Knight Astronaut?... A Rogue Racecardriver? No, a Pirate Wizard trumps it all. ALL HAIL THE PIRATE WIZARD!

Hm, without any lifegain mechanics I would be very hesitant to play Dark Confidant. You can kill yourself with it.

But if you do want a burn deck, you could also think about a WR one, with monastery swiftspear, monastery mentor and soulfire grand master as creatures.

First revision: took out the Rattleclaw Mystics in favor of Nissa's Pilgrimage for some more secure ramp.

Second revision: removed the Wooded Foothill for 3 Mirrorpool and 1 Hangarback Walker. I felt that I did not need the effect of the Wooded Foothill because I had already enough ramp from spells without paying life

Third revision: and then I though "well, why not add cinder glade into the mix, we can search it up via sylvan scrying. Sacrificed 2 mirrorpool and 2 forest.

Fourth revision: added a SB for good measure

Fifth revision: decreased the ramp. Testing showed I just had too much landfetch in the deck. Added oblivion sower and nissa, vastwood seer instead for some board presence. I chose Nissa, because to add 1 jaddi offshoot would have been too little impactful imho.

Edit: bundled up all the revision posts

I am happy with it so far as well, though I am still unsure about Angelsong. Is there a recommended improvement for this one involving protection for yourself? Perhaps To Arms! or Curtain of Light?

How about some lands to spice things up? I know they arent the best of lands because they come into play tapped, but for the cost (in $) they could be a pain in the ass in this deck. Lands like Emeria, the Sky Ruin and Mistveil Plains.

Edit: added suggestions
Edit 2: added question about lands

After a long while I decided to update this deck again. Removed the enchants in favor of more deck themed cards and added Angelsong for combat dmg prevention.

@Bartley: Helm of the Gods wouldn't fit the deck, as I dont play enough enchants, even before the latest revision.

I actually overhauled quite a bit of the deck. It is now far more in line with my counter strategy, including test of faith and defiant strike (to keep my hand from going too empty)

Edit: tbh I am thinking about removing both setessan battle priest for 2 more gods willing so I can increase the survivability of my creatures slightly. I would love some input on that on the revision of the deck so far

Feat of Resistance is actually really good for this deck. Thanks for the tip!

Edit: I have revised the deck, removing some enchantments to emphasize the counters more, including Feat of Resistance. I actually added some plains as well, as I felt that my opening hand had often too few lands in it.

I indeed have added some cards to the deck, namely Archetype of Courage, Battlewise Valor, Fabled Hero, Gods Willing and Setessan Battle Priest, but I feel the other cards are missing the point of the deck tbh. It isnt about enchantments, but about triggering Heroic and multiplying counters with Gleam of Authority

However, those other cards are giving me an idea about making a complete enchantment deck.

Tbh, I dont really know how to fit that card in. The whole point of the deck is to buff creatures with heroic, so aegis of the gods kinda doesnt fit the bill. It is a good card though

Serra's would be out of the question anyway, noticed it isnt a modern card

Those two sound like a good idea. Will make changes soon to see the impact on the card distribution and perhaps the cost of the deck. Want to keep that as low as possible
